I tried Kwon's Karate, located at 8 Hillcrest Avenue in Manhasset under a one day pass I received by enetering my information on the company's web site (www.kwonskarate.com).
The studio teaches a traditional form of Martial Arts called Moo Duk Kwan.
Group exercise: There are two adult classes offered in the morning on Tues and Thurs (10:30-11:20) and Saturday (11:30-12:30) and four evening classes M-Thurs 7:30-8:30pm.
Cool feature: when first starting out you will be provided with a series of one-on-one lessons to get the basic technique down.
The bad: The place looks nothing like the pictures on the web site, its old, dank and dirty.
The price: Whether chosing a one month committment or paying month-to-month, the cost of the adult program is $159/month (with $100 initiation fee, but not clear if they are enforcing that). This entitles you to as many sessions as you would like per week.
